Sound familiar?

Cool air is only part of feeling comfortable.

Before lowering the thermostat again, pay attention to how the system behaves. A description of the pattern is more useful than guessing at the cause.

  • The temperature drops, but rooms still feel clammy.
  • Cooling switches on and off frequently without settling the house.
  • Outdoor equipment shows visible wear or a change in sound.

These are clues, not a diagnosis. For a gas smell or carbon monoxide alarm, leave the property and call emergency services from a safe location. Online scheduling is not an emergency-response channel.

Repair. Replace. Maintain.

The next step should fit the problem.

Get to the cause.

An AC that runs without delivering comfort needs an assessment of cooling performance and airflow. Tell us about moisture, run times, and when the problem started. A lower thermostat setting alone will not resolve a drainage, control, or equipment fault.

Choose a better fit.

Discuss temperature and humidity together when comparing equipment. A replacement should be sized for the home and matched to compatible indoor components and ductwork. More capacity is not automatically better, particularly when short run times leave comfort concerns unresolved.

Give comfort some care.

Follow manufacturer guidance for filters and outdoor clearance. If your equipment has coastal exposure, ask about appropriate inspection and care for that model. Avoid applying cleaners or protective coatings without equipment-specific advice.

The Sandbridge connection is personal

Expert Air founder Gary Andress was born and raised in Sandbridge and founded the family-owned business in 2010. Today, Virginia Beach remains home to the company. Whether you are near the water or farther inland, tell us about your equipment and the comfort you want from it.

Coastal exposure is a question, not an assumption

For a home exposed to salt air, mention visible corrosion and the outdoor unit’s location when you call. For homes farther inland, airflow, usage, and routine equipment condition still matter. The care discussion should start with the actual installation.

Five stars. In a time when it often feels like every large company and some contractors are looking for a way to overcharge or cut corners, It was a genuine relief and a delight to find a company that does none of that. We purchased a fairly new system from them and the experience was professional, honest and straightforward. Initially, Josh and Logan came to assess the situation and present options. Additionally, Adrian, Evan and Spencer treated the job with care from start to finish. They showed up when they said they would, kept the area clean, and explained everything clearly. The system has been running beautifully. It’s rare these days to find a company that simply does good work at a fair price and stands behind it. Highly recommend.

Gary is quickly responsive in arranging support when I’ve had to reach out with issues with our two newer systems. I feel confident that they will continue to make sure our units will run as they should, within the warranty.

A little peace of mind

HVAC questions in Virginia Beach.

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer for your home. We’re here to help you find yours.

Ask our team
Why does my home feel humid even when the AC runs?

Airflow, system sizing, operation, and moisture entering the home can all play a role. It takes an assessment to distinguish them. Simply choosing a larger AC or a lower setpoint is not a reliable answer.

Does every Virginia Beach system need special coastal care?

No single routine fits every address. Exposure, installation location, equipment materials, and manufacturer instructions matter. Discuss your specific system before using cleaning products or corrosion treatments.
